The task of PGE Dystrybucja S.A., the Distribution Company of PGE Capital Group, is the "physical" supply of electricity sold to end users by the Retail Companies. The Distribution System Operators manage on a day-to-day basis the medium-voltage and the low-voltage lines as well as the transformer substations through which electricity flows to homes and businesses.
The basic tasks of Distribution System Operators, imposed by the Energy Law include: conducting traffic in distribution network and maintenance the adequate security of distribution network.
The Distribution Company of PGE Capital Group supplies electricity to over five million customers over an area of 122,4 thousand km2 (approx. 38% of the area of Poland). In 2010 these customers were supplied with ca. 30 TWh of power.

Apart from ensuring that current customers receive high quality supplies and new customers have access to the power grid, PGE Capital Group pursues the task of reducing grid losses . Therefore, in 2010 PGE invested approximately PLN 1 bn in the modernisation and development of its distribution assets.
