The task of the Distribution Companies of the PGE Capital Group is the "physical" supply of electricity sold to end users by the Retail Companies. The Distribution System Operators manage on a day-to-day basis the medium-voltage and the low-voltage lines as well as the transformer substations through which electricity flows to homes and businesses.
The Distribution Companies of the PGE Capital Group supply electricity to over five million customers over an area of 122 thousand km2 (approx. 38% of the area of Poland). In 2008 these customers were supplied with 30.7 TWh of power, which gave the PGE Capital Group a 26% share in the power distribution market in Poland.

Apart from ensuring that current customers receive high quality supplies and new customers have access to the power grid, the PGE Capital Group pursues the task of reducing grid losses. Therefore, until 2012 PGE plans to invest approximately PLN 5.5 bn in the modernisation and development of its distribution assets.
