PGE at U.S.-Poland Energy Roundtable in Washington, D.C.

On 22 and 23 June 2010 the second edition of the U.S.-Poland Energy Roundtable was held in Washington, D.C. More than 100 representatives of Polish and American businesses, U.S. and Polish administration as well as research and development institutions participated in the conference.

The agenda of the Roundtable included such topics as the construction of CCS plants, renewable energy, conventional energy sources (oil and natural gas) and nuclear power generation. Participants discussed also the issues related to the financing of power industry projects, both in Poland and the USA.
The Roundtable was chaired jointly by Marcin Korolec, Deputy Minister of Economy and Juan Verde, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe.
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna was represented by Monika Morawiecka, Deputy Director in the Strategy and Investments Department, who participated in the panel session dedicated to clean carbon technologies and carbon capture and storage plants, as well as Marcin Ciepliński, President of PGE Energia Jądrowa, who took part in the discussion concerning nuclear power generation.

The U.S.-Poland Energy Roundtable was organised by the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C., the United States Energy Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The next edition of the Energy Roundtable will be held in Poland in 2011.
