PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna follows in its activities the idea of sustainable development, which is reflected, among others, in the consequent engagement in social and charitable activities related to the local communities at the major locations of the Company's business activities. Our aim is to build a dialogue and understanding with all the groups of interested parties as well as fulfilling the role of a responsible neighbour, who contributes to the development of the communities in which he operates on a day-to-day basis.
In our social activities, we consider as the most important the following issues:
- Respecting and taking into account the opinions of the local communities on the investment projects conducted by the PGE Capital Group companies,
- Our participation in key community projects and initiatives, in particular, in sports, cultural and local development projects,
- Our support and the implementation of the initiatives related to safe electricity use and environmental education,
- Charitable aid to the members of the local communities in greatest need.
While executing large investment projects, the PGE Capital Group pursues to secure participation and support of the local communities. Respecting the environmental information right of each citizen as well as the right to express their opinion, to participate in the process itself and to make comments, PGE carries out community consultations e.g. on the construction of new power units in PGE Elektrownia Opole and a carbon capture and storage plant in PGE Elektrownia Bełchatów.
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A. also takes an active part in building environmental awareness of the local communities, shaping new habits related to safe electricity use and environmental protection as well as the promotion of renewable sources of energy. The PGE Capital Group companies have won many awards and prizes for the execution of related educational programmes e.g. the Protector of the Polish Ecology title was granted to PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A. in "The Companies Friendly to the Environment" competition.
